I was surprised how much the defense dominated out there today. The offense controlled most of yesterday’s practice, but today we got more from the defense.

The offense made some adjustments at halftime and came out with a couple of different personnel, … They got the defense on its heels in the second half and really competed. Micheal made some good...

We’ve let Alan Abrams back on the team. There will be certain circumstances he must follow.

Not in the Pac-10, not like them. It’s hard to simulate Chris Perry in their offense. I feel like our defensive line has to be able to get in the backfield and try to bring...

It was a better day today. We missed a lot of balls on the second team. But a lot of those guys are not ready to play. Dan has a good passing game. They pick...

Well, he got ready in about two seconds on the sidelines. I think with about a week’s preparation, he will be as ready as we can get a freshman ready. He is physically talented, and...

If I could create a nose tackle, it would be him.

I feel Hugh Freeze is more than qualified for the recruiting coordinator position, and I am confident he will do an outstanding job.

That’s not true. That is no part of Pete Carroll at all. Pete is the most competitive person that I’ve ever met.

We tried to turn it into a position to see if we can get our second team ready in case something happens to Brent. We had a battle there and we still have a long...

We got a lot of work on special teams done today. I think we’re really better and more advanced than we were last year at this time.

We tried to keep him here and keep his spirits high. We asked Fortson to stay here and he decided he didn’t want to do it.

He was picking it up and was given just enough time for the routes to come open. I don’t know if you’re going to totally stop him.

We are glad to come home after playing two away games. And obviously it is college football here in the South. It is going to be fun. We are looking forward to walking through the...

He’s the one that wanted to play end. And he has proven to me that he can play end.

When you play ball, that’s going to happen. We’ve got some guys that are experienced. We’re going to be fine.

That will never happen in my program. I will never do that. Too many things can happen. You can cause a fumble and pick it up and run for a touchdown.

When a recruit comes in or commits, we lay out everything all the do’s and don’ts and conditions of that (scholarship offer). We have to protect ourselves. Protect the program.

Michael is such a great talent, so big and fast and strong. We need some help in the middle of our line, and I think he can bring it to us. I feel comfortable that...

He operates well, threw the ball well. He’s more of a pocket passer who can run our protection and run our systems.

It’s starting from scratch… and I think it’s a good thing.

He can go through you, around you and in between you.

Alan Abrams is suspended from the football team and I will review his (status) on Monday.

Justin Sparks had an opportunity to show us what he could do, but he’s been really inconsistent. We will continue through the week with the guys that we have, chart them and see who does...

It’s a matter of what has happened to Micheal and Robert,

He plays with intensity, the way defense ought to be played. He’s going a lot harder this year.

We came ready to play on defense.

We are going to take a bit of an advantage and recruit,

The key to our recruiting class is Brent Schaeffer. He’s going to be our quarterback. There will be no quarterback controversy at Ole Miss.

It’s part of football, it’s where we’re at and we have to learn from this loss. We have to take the positives and move on and not dwell on the negatives.

We have to keep fighting. We were close, but not good enough. I came here to win. We got close, but we let it slip away from us.

We obviously have some work to do on offense. I asked the football team to give us 15 great days (in spring drills) and they did that.

Bruce Hall made some strides at running back. We moved him there earlier in the week, because we needed depth at that position. We saw he could run the ball when he was at quarterback....

The truth came out, and we felt that everything we did was ethical.

Alan Abrams has come to the forefront as a good zone runner, and we’re going to play him more.

The offense is not showing the production that I want it to, and we need to go to another guy.

He showed a little mobility … a little bit. We knew Seth could play, but for him to come and be the first team guy is pretty good.

We’re building our program here from the ground up.

We had a chance to look at the film and lots of corrections need to be made. We are excited to go out and have a great practice.

We thought we had to get bigger, and better, on the offensive line, and we did.

I’ll be meeting with our guys on an individual basis and we’re going to solve that problem. We’re going to start in practice and continue to do what we do. It’s a mind issue. It’s...

Our run defense has not done well, and there is no excuse for that. We aren’t fitting well, and we have a couple of new players in there, who aren’t as good as the guys...

I think Robert Lane has come on very strong, especially the last scrimmage,

We had a good practice today. We went through every special situation you can think of. We concentrated on sudden change and overtime. It was needed and good work. We just wanted a practice where...

He’s probably our No. 1 offensive player with the ball in his hands.

The tempo wasn’t there, the execution wasn’t there, so I told them to come back later, … If they don’t practice the way I want them to practice, that’s it. We’re done.

Physically he’s ready to play, but mentally he’s not. Patrick Willis is going to have to play most of the snaps. Hopefully we can spell him once in a while, but Robert’s not ready to...

We went over some mistakes and made some corrections from film from Saturday.

We didn’t play well on the corners, and their receivers made plays we hadn’t given up most of the year.

He is back and ready to go, … That is why he didn’t kick for us, because he missed all of preseason camp. So we need to find out about him this week.
