He was 99 percent of our focus, … He’s the key to the game. You’re not going to completely stop a guy like that.

Our offense is designed to run against eight-man fronts, and we just didn’t get it done. We’re going to have to take the opportunities to hit the long ball downfield too. They were there last...

I was recruiting my No. 1 prospect to come back. That’s the approach that I took. We just had to present our side.

We need as many (freshmen) that are able to play. Realistically, we’re probably going to play at least half of that class. Some positions we needed to get better at. Others we needed to improve...

I’m excited about this staff. Each of these men brings something different to the table and this group represents a blend of experience and youth. They all have great energy, are strong recruiters, and are...

Patrick had an outstanding season and is most worthy of this additional first team All-America recognition. He plays with great passion and has worked hard to become one of the finest linebackers in the country.

We’re going to take care of these young men the best way we can because some of them have not been able to reach their families. One way to help them is to keep them...

He brings a lot to the offense, and we need to get him the football more in all aspects of the offense.

Hayward is a tremendous athlete. He is a player we feel like is going to have a great impact on our defensive line. I am looking forward to him joining our program.

It’s a battle between (McCoy) and ( Maurice Miller ). It will see-saw until the season or until someone beats them out.

I prepared to handle it the best way I could for my team and for my school. And I thought I did that. I was really disappointed in the loss, but mostly disappointed in myself....

He’s really a good athlete. He’s exactly what we thought he would be when we recruited him. The more he learns the defense, the more we’ll be able to trust him back there on the...

Robert had his chance. He may have his chance again, but right now, I feel Michael Spurlock is the better quarterback. It was obvious tonight.

Defensively, I was really pleased with the way we played. [Linebackers] Patrick Willis, Kelvin Robinson and Garry Pack had a great game.

I had to do a big sell job. He’s a tremendous player with the heart of a lion. But he might have been the biggest recruit we had. He just loves Ole Miss.

He is back and ready to go. That is why he didn’t kick for us, because he missed all of preseason camp. So we need to find out about him this week.

We can do everything that we need to do, as far as the staff and what we’re going to run on both ends. All our running game’s going to be there, the offensive line… the...

That’s the amazing thing,

I’m disappointed we lost, but I’m mostly disappointed in myself not getting the team ready to play,

They won the battle up front, no question about it; when you gain over 500 yards you’ve won that battle,

In the interview process I told him that I needed a coordinator that could come in and be confident in running his own scheme. Obviously, with me having been at the University of Miami for...

I like to do a lot of learning during a win. But losing is a part of football. It is where we are at. We have to learn from this loss, take the positives and...

It’s more of an assignment thing with Kendrick, but eventually he and Antonio will play. They aren’t ready to play right now.

We could not stop (Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler) on third down. I’m the defensive coordinator, so I take full responsibility.

I’m 110 percent against it. There are a lot of things that happen between December and February that are important for recruiting. You need so much manpower going into signing day, so you want to...

I’ve never said that (to a prospect). We handle those things on an individual basis. That’s just the way I feel. I feel strong in the bonds we build during recruiting.

We feel he can come in and provide immediate help.

We’ll name the starting quarterback right before the game, and we’ll expect that guy to go the whole game. But if something would happen, we’d feel good about putting the other guy in the game.

We needed to get pressure on the quarterback, and his sack was a big play. We need him to be more consistent and continue to play like he was at the end.

Not in the Pac-10, not like them, … It’s hard to simulate Chris Perry in their offense. I feel like our defensive line has to be able to get in the backfield and try to...

We worked on blocking punts today. They got a little better. Robert Lane scored on a fantastic catch in the back of the end zone today, and that’s why he’s at tight end. We want...

It’s fantastic. It’s unique, powerful and sleek, and it will represent the university in a first-class manner.

Guys are moving to Memphis, Houston or northern Louisiana. We are going to keep a close eye on where they go.

Art Kehoe is a fantastic addition to our staff. He brings energy and great passion for football to our program. He’s an outstanding recruiter and has coached some of the best lines in collegiate football.

We made a couple of big plays, but we’re still not consistent enough to beat a team that’s going to score 31 points on us.

I can only speak for Ole Miss, but I think it’s very positive for us. We like it. You get to know the (prospects) a lot better by having them around and they get used...

I was surprised how much the defense dominated out there today. The offense controlled most of yesterday’s practice, but today we got more from the defense.

The offense made some adjustments at halftime and came out with a couple of different personnel, … They got the defense on its heels in the second half and really competed. Micheal made some good...

We’ve let Alan Abrams back on the team. There will be certain circumstances he must follow.

Not in the Pac-10, not like them. It’s hard to simulate Chris Perry in their offense. I feel like our defensive line has to be able to get in the backfield and try to bring...

It was a better day today. We missed a lot of balls on the second team. But a lot of those guys are not ready to play. Dan has a good passing game. They pick...

Well, he got ready in about two seconds on the sidelines. I think with about a week’s preparation, he will be as ready as we can get a freshman ready. He is physically talented, and...

If I could create a nose tackle, it would be him.

I feel Hugh Freeze is more than qualified for the recruiting coordinator position, and I am confident he will do an outstanding job.

That’s not true. That is no part of Pete Carroll at all. Pete is the most competitive person that I’ve ever met.

We tried to turn it into a position to see if we can get our second team ready in case something happens to Brent. We had a battle there and we still have a long...

We got a lot of work on special teams done today. I think we’re really better and more advanced than we were last year at this time.

We tried to keep him here and keep his spirits high. We asked Fortson to stay here and he decided he didn’t want to do it.

He was picking it up and was given just enough time for the routes to come open. I don’t know if you’re going to totally stop him.

We are glad to come home after playing two away games. And obviously it is college football here in the South. It is going to be fun. We are looking forward to walking through the...
