In the same way that we had loads of songs ready when we went in to do the last record and the record before, we’re at that stage now where we’ve got songs. I think they will need a lot of work, we need to learn how to play them. We’ve learnt from mistakes on the last record in terms of the idea that it’s most important for us to play the songs together and to have them as live as possible.
We might have a slight advantage in that respect since we've both won recently but Jeff knows how to win. I hit a lot of good putts that didn't go in today. I burned a lot of edges. I played solid and made very few mistakes with my swing. The good news is that I tried to aim at my foot and shoot it, but I missed it and still have a good chance to win.
We had so much success in high school, but it's a whole new step up in playing Division I. Players are as good if not better than you. To adjust to that level of play was pretty tough. Defensively, I think I did it. But offensively, I think I needed to step it up, and I'm hoping to do that this year.
We don't really discuss that. We're all aware of it, but we don't talk about it much. We've taken the approach all season to just focus on the match or tournament at hand. Like I told the girls before this tournament, I just want them to go out and have fun. I want them to stay focused, but have some fun while they're out there.
The ride that we've had with this group has been unbelievable. I've had two of my favorite years of coaching because of them. The time, score or situation doesn't matter to them. They just keep playing and playing and playing. That's why they've changed the face of Canisius women's basketball.
