I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel.’

We are speaking with Andy and his agent on Thursday and we should sort everything out then. He wants to be here and we want him here. It is as simple as that.

Sylvain is our captain, he’s a very good player and we’ve got him here at the moment, so I wouldn’t want him to leave. And I don’t think he wants to leave us either.

I have a big job on my hands now, there is no mistaking that, but I feel as though I have a calmness within myself.

It would be easy for me to look at the decisions which went against us and which probably cost us in the end but I am not in the business of blaming anyone other than...

If I refused him this opportunity of fulfilling his ambition it would not be good for him or Manchester City Football Club.

It’s a ‘suck it and see’ situation with Georgios. But I think this weekend will be too soon for him. We will wait and see but he is hell bent on getting back as quick...

As long as the playing field is level and we are results-orientated and there are no personal grudges at all, then it’s brilliant.

Joey is out of Saturday’s game. He is back on the training field but he is still experiencing some discomfort.

But all I am concerned about is what he does for us on Saturday and he has not let me down yet.

The first one was a great finish,

Andy is having an operation today and we think he will be out for between four and five weeks.

Sylvain is not going anywhere. He is staying at Manchester City.

If we go out there and do our level best in every game, then I will take my chances that the results will be more good than bad.

I have always been the sort of person who liked responsibility,

I haven’t got that luxury. The 16 or 18 players involved in the first team are basically the only players I’ve got.

We think it was a wise investment. He’s still got an awful lot to learn but he was a real handful for them.

I wish they could have a camera in the dressing room to know exactly how much it meant to the players. If they saw that, they would be very proud of the players.

Joey’s got to be a bit cuter and cleverer in the way he tackles.

I have lived my life that way and I expect the people who work for me to be the same way.

We are delighted Richard has signed. From my own point of view it’s great that I am the man in charge when he turns around and says he wants to stay at this football club,

It is a fantastic move for Robbie and it has worked well for us because it has freed some cash to invest in players.

We would embarrass ourselves playing like that in Europe.

The scouting system and the coaching staff will stay the same for the time being.

They are expected to sign, as far as I am concerned their contracts have been verbally agreed.

Trevor has had a steady influence over the three games so far,

He actually suffered the injury in training before the Ireland game and the fact he was able to play 90 minutes on Wednesday gives us a bit of encouragement,

We think that he will be out for four to five weeks.

I do appreciate that the most important thing as a manager is to get good results.

At this club, all I see is great backing all the way down for me and I will be judged on results like the next man.

I know how I like things done,

This must be the only industry in the world where you can have a total novice, who has not even been in management for one year, being touted for the top job in English football....

Andy had another operation after they found some floating material in his knee.

I wouldn’t have done what Joey did after the club stood by him in the summer. I am disappointed, but more for the fans and chairman.

I suppose you could say I went through the whole spectrum of FA Cup experiences.

I think management is about just that – managing people via man-to-man skills.

He has performed exceptionally well this year and is one of our top three, there is no doubt about that.

What has happened is disappointing but I still feel as though something will be sorted out in terms of agreeing a contract with Joey.

Myself and the players were an absolute disgrace this afternoon. We were an embarrassment to this football club… We were so spineless at times it was frightening.

Matt will be training with us today. We will have a look at him and see what the situation is. At this stage it is impossible to say what will happen.

Supporters just want to see if a player is putting a shift in for their team. If a player does that they will support him, if a player doesn’t produce that and the fans are...

Trevor is growing in confidence with every game and hopefully he will have a big season for us,

When you try something that is different from the norm in football, you will be accused of arrogance. But you could also say that it was a clever training-ground ploy [that was not successful].

Trevor will be in tomorrow to have his cheekbone straightened but it won’t be an operation. We’re hopeful that he will be able to play in a mask.

At 17 and having just scored his first goal in big-time football, I will forgive him. I will have a quiet word and tell him the next time he scores to tone down his language.

I enjoy making the decisions.

To be honest with you it doesn’t work, … You have to be yourself because when you get in your car to go home after a game and it hasn’t worked out, you kick yourself...

The day after Shaun left, I looked round the training ground and didn’t see any sign of a hangover from the players,

I only have 13 senior players available for Saturday, so I will have to juggle things about and bring a few youngsters in.

We looked like the team that was up for a derby match, up for a scrap and we took our chances when they came.
