Joel did a great job as a graduate assistant here and has gone on to cut his teeth in the coaching profession. He’s a detail guy with a lot of energy, and we’re thrilled to...

We have utilized the quarterback as a runner, but not as an option guy. We haven’t been convinced we can put all the time into the option and the spread passing game and be equally...

It’s unfortunate because we wanted Paul in there to make sure guys are in the right positions at the right time.

You’ll get a chance to see those three more than you have to date.

If they can help, if a guy can contribute right away, play him. Practicing is not as valuable as playing, even if it’s for just 10 to 12 snaps. I like them to get that...

I think that maybe if those guys get more playing time, they’ll improve and the energy level will pick up and we can become a better team as a result of doing that. That was...

I think the two programs are very close. But they’ve had (recently graduated) Matt Roth as a four-year starter at defensive end and he’s a big defensive end. Our defensive ends had been undersized defensive...

He is a guy that I’ve known for a long time. He’s very knowledgeable guy and he’s a play ahead all of the time. He understands mechanics probably as well as anybody coaching quarterbacks today.

I don’t think what we did last week is an indicator of what we’re going to do for the balance of the season. We will lean a little more heavily on the run than we...

when the guy intercepts the ball and he takes off on that side of the field, you’ve got a bunch of offensive guys chasing him. Once he reversed, those offensive linemen aren’t the greatest at...

As a coach, it takes time to mesh with the rest of the staff and the players. It will take some time, but the players are starting to understand what he expects.

You have a difficult time winning when you have five turnovers. It’s a problem when they take two to the house on you.

When you watch nearly every college football game on TV and you’re sitting on the sidelines, as a team and as a staff, you get anxious to get out there and play.

We don’t have the luxury of surprise that we once had. It’s always a chess game, and you’re trying to stay one move ahead of the competition.

We want to take advantage of [Kirsch’s] athleticism and his ability to get out in space and make some plays,

We are kind of experimenting right now. But I want to make sure the secondary is an area of focus this spring.

(They) are not coming out and talking to these people. That’s how I’m going to address it.

It will be interesting to see how that depth pays off. The defensive line is an area you can become more exhausted quicker. You’re always chasing the ball on every play. Big, strong offensive linemen...

We feel we addressed positions where we have immediate needs. All of these guys are expected to come in and compete for starting positions right away.

He’s the type of player who can make big plays because he has soft hands, he’s a big target at receiver and he’s faster than most people think.

Our players are students, and it’s important that they interact with their classmates. The Grand Prix motto is ‘students helping students,’ and I think what our players have chosen to do relates nicely.

A play like that really is an emotional lift that picks up everyone. He turns his body and knifes through there. You don’t have to give him much of a crack.

If guys are succeeding at the next level then you are doing a pretty good job.

He hasn’t been hired; he has not signed on the dotted line. The plan is for him to come to the campus (today) and have this stuff take place.

If we were put in the same scenario, we’d call the same play,

That was much more accommodating than us getting together with Utah,

I thought Ray played well for being a cornerback for only three days. The more experience he gets, the better he will play. I am confident of what we saw from him tonight.

You don’t work with a guy that long and don’t become very good friends. He really understood me and I understood him. That’s probably why we got along so well. We’ll miss Jim and his...

He’s got a chance now. But he’s got a long way to go. He needs to go to work in the weight room. He doesn’t bench that much, he doesn’t squat that much, he doesn’t...

There are certain national-type programs that are measuring-stick games,

He turns his body and kind of knifes through there. You don’t have to get him much of a crack, and he’s going to split it on you. We actually had to change our protection...

I thought our defense stepped up, … We had a number of takeaways, which is what we are looking for, and for the most part we were flying to the ball. Not that the offense...

They had the edge early, but our guys came back and competed and got themselves in a position to win the ball game. It was a heck of a game.

Because of their experience, our offensive line should be playing well, and they are. Our physicality showed up on the goal line, and that was a positive.

We had to actually change our protection,

He’s smart, he’s experienced, he’s loyal, he’s a good coach and he sees the big picture. He’s the right guy for the job at this point.

Football is a chess game. You always try to stay one move ahead.

He played better than what his numbers show.

It’s going to be the first time out for our quarterback that he’s truly got the reins in his hands. It’s never as though he had that label on him. You always worry about how...

I think the NFL is in Brandon’s heart, and he should follow his heart.

I don’t know about his place-kicking. He’s strong-legged, but I don’t know about his accuracy. But it wouldn’t shock me at all to see him kicking off in the first game of the year.

We like his quickness. We like the way he hits the hole and accelerates.

To me, it’s that type of game.

From our point of view, he’s very poised. He has very good vision. He’s very comfortable with the offense, and he looks like a relaxed player out there. He makes a lot of plays and...

Bill is an accomplished coach who has been a coordinator in the past and understands the responsibilities that go along with the position. He has experience and is very capable.

You can drive yourself crazy looking for that common theme. I do think it’s a process you go through, because the first part of solving a problem is identifying it. And if something shows up...

It seemed like he ran about 100 yards.

Also, we wanted to change some things in our offense so that we would present some new and different-looking problems for our opponents. The game is a chess game. You’re always trying to stay one...

I don’t have a problem with him being held accountable. But when it is brought up and repeated, it is like beating a dead horse.

He’s a guy I have tried to hire on two other occasions, so the third time was a charm. I’m excited to have him on our staff.
