The great commandment is that we preach the gospel to every creature, but neither God nor the Bible says anything about forcing it down people’s throats.

The spirit of the gospel is optimistic; it trusts in God and looks on the bright side of things. The opposite or pessimistic spirit drags men down and away from God, looks on the dark...

Only the gospel can truly save you. The gospel doesn’t make good people good; it makes dead people alive. That’s the difference between the gospel of Jesus Christ and every other world religion. All the...

It is a profound political reality that Christ now occupies the supreme seat of cosmic authority. The kings of this world and all secular governments may ignore this reality, but they cannot undo it. The...

Will you shed your tears for the souls of the nations?

The Gospel is not a mere message of deliverance, but a canon of conduct; it is not a theology to be accepted, but it is ethics to be lived. It is not to be believed...

If we were left to ourselves with the task of taking the gospel to the world, we would immediately begin planning innovative strategies and plotting elaborate schemes. We would organize conventions, develop programs, and create...

Because of the gospel — the news about what Jesus did on the cross to save sinners — mothers who make Christ their treasure can rejoice in their work as God works in them.

Grace has a face. It is Jesus Christ.

The one indispensable requirement for producing godly, mature Christians is godly, mature Christians.

There is too much theology in the Church now, and too little of the Gospel.

For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, and you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you needed more clothes....

When your ears hear and your eyes see the sin, weakness, or failure of your husband or wife, it is never an accident; it is always grace. God loves your spouse, and he is committed...

If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don’t like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself.

Always have a book to read, instead of indulging in vain conversation. Strive to learn English….Remember this, that you cannot commit some loved sin in private, and perform the work of the ministry in public,...

We are above all things loved–that is the good news of the gospel–and loved not just the way we turn up on Sundays in our best clothes and on our best behavior and with our...

My identity and my security are not in my spiritual progress. My identity and my security are in God’s acceptance of me given as a gift in Christ.

It is not the balance in your check book that makes life count. It is the investment one makes in the lives of others.

This Jesus of Nazereth without money and arms, conquered more millions than Alexander, Caeser, Muhammad and Napoleon; without science and learning, He shed more light on matters human and divine than all philosophers and scholars...

In American religion, as in ancient Gnosticism, there is almost no sense of God’s difference from us—in other words, his majesty, sovereignty, self-existence, and holiness. God is my buddy, my inmost experience, or the power...

I have established my throne in heaven, and my kingdom rules over all. The day is mine, and mine also the night; I established the sun and moon. I set all the boundaries of the...

Prayer does change things, all kinds of things. But the most important thing it changes is us. As we engage in this communion with God more deeply and come to know the One with whom...

In religion our only hope is to live a life good enough to require God to bless us, so every instance of sin and repentance is therefore traumatic, unnatural and threatening. Only under great duress...

A preacher shouldn’t preach just to make you feel good. Then it’s about the money not about the teach. He should preach the truth because the truth shall set you free.

The heart of the gospel is that Christ has come to save us from the judgment of God.

And we neglect the glorious gospel when we fail to recognize his preeminence. How frequently we forget that everything is for him and about him. We forget that he is to be first, in our...

We have taught this generation how to “market” the Gospel but we have neglected to encourage them to “preach” the Gospel.

When God appoints the gospel of his Son as the universal remedy for the guilt and corruption of mankind, and we diminish that, the gospel is diminished. And you cannot diminish the gospel without being...

A man can have no greater honour than to be accepted by God as an able Minister of the gospel

The spiritual power in the gospel is denied when we augment or adjusting gospel into no gospel at all. When we doubt the message alone is the power of God for salvation we start adding...

We make a big mistake when we conclude that the law is the answer to bad behavior. In fact, the law alone stirs up more of such behavior. People get worse, not better, when you...

If there is one single molecule in this universe running around loose, totally free of God’s sovereignty, then we have no guarantee that a single promise of God will ever be fulfilled.

As a magnifying glass concentrates the rays of the sun into a little burning knot of heat that can set fire to a dry leaf or a piece of paper, so the mystery of Christ...

Success and failure, ultimately, have little to do with living the gospel. Jesus just stood with the outcasts until they were welcomed or until he was crucified — whichever came first.

The Holy Spirit will always point people to the finish work of Jesus

The world needs to see Christians burning, not with self-righteous fury at the sliding morals in our country, but with passion for God.

It wasn’t a potential atonement actuated by the sinner, it was an actual atonement initiated by the savior.

Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.

…I fear that some of us understand just enough about the gospel to feel guilty–guilty that we are not measuring up to some undefinable standard–but not enough about the Atonement to feel the peace and...

The incarnation took all that properly belongs to our humanity and delivered it back to us, redeemed. All of our inclinations and appetites and capacities and yearnings are purified and gathered up and glorified by...

Let the preacher tell the truth. Let him make audible the silence of the news of the world with the sound turned off so that in the silence we can hear the tragic truth of...

Gospel change is the Spirit of God using the story of God to make the beauty of God come alive in our hearts

The Church is not called to overthrow government but to influence culture.

It does not answer the aim which God had in this institution, merely for men to have good commentaries and expositions on the Scripture, and other good books of divinity; because, although these may tend,...

The greatest threat to Christ-centered witness even in churches that formally affirm sound teaching is what British evangelical David Gibson calls ‘the assumed gospel.’ The idea is that the gospel is necessary for getting saved,...
