That was the first game we played about 28 really good minutes of basketball. It’s probably the game that got us into gear.

It’s tough to simulate her quickness in practice. She’s so quick, and we’re not real quick. She sliced and diced us inside.

I think Brooke really stepped up her game in mid January (and) Andrea put in a ton of time in the off-season and played with the confidence of someone who put in that time.

We changed her free-throw shooting style because she’d been struggling from the line last year and was afraid to take it inside. She wasn’t afraid to get fouled this year.

We rested on last year’s laurels. Other teams came right at us and we did not respond to that.

Both teams played tight. With the rivalry both teams wanted to beat the other and in games like that it comes down to fighting through it. Our defense got us through it tonight.

Who’s going to be our point guard as well as who we’ll have step up off the bench is going to be a key. (But) we’ve got a good foundation to build around.
