Roughly 40 percent of older black and Hispanic women who live alone live in poverty.

There are subgroups among the old who still have fairly high levels of poverty, including older women, and especially those who live alone.

The current older population is healthier, wealthier and living longer than ever before.

We’re going to have to think about how pay for Social Security and Medicare and who’s going to take care of this older population.
