Irrespective of what happened in the past (the just-concluded Test series), we will play positive and good cricket.

Every series is a challenge. We have prepared ourselves the best we can. We want to enjoy our cricket.

The boys responded well to challenges and the various roles they were asked to perform in the team. They also adjusted to the changes in the batting order.

We discussed him in our bowler’s meeting last evening. Some of the guys who have played against him in county cricket think he is a very good player.

We want to put the players under pressure. (But) not in terms of results that come naturally, but in terms of achieving different goals they have been set.

It’s very heartening the way we have responded to big Pakistan totals in both the Test matches. It’s not easy to bat after staying on the field for two days.

If you prepare another wicket like this it will be another drawn series.

We thought we would give England a bit of a scare.

It’s not that we will forget to bat or bowl in one day.

We do realize we’ve got to take 20 wickets to win a test. That’s the key, but we’ve played the last few tests on flat pitches of low bounce.

We were confident that our batting was clicking and we could chase. The goal was to win the series 4-1 and we are learning constantly about the way we are chasing targets and I think...

He was the unsung hero in the one-day series against South Africa and Sri Lanka (in India late last year). Hopefully, he will enjoy the challenge here and bowl well.

He sized up the situation very early on. There was help for the bowlers when the ball was hard and new and he knew he had to play cautiously. He controlled the innings beautifully. It...

Each day I am asked to do the job as captain I go about preparing for it not just in the short term but also in the long term. There is a responsibility to deal...

(But) I am not really concerned about it. I will keep on improving,

I’m disappointed at not getting a hundred after coming so close. It’s not just the century. I wanted to go on to make a big score and put the team into a really strong position.

This last match is as important as the other matches, so we need to win this as well as the objective is to win every time we play.

We will not target individual players. We will play Pakistan as a team.

The youngsters have responded brilliantly to the pressure situations and shown maturity beyond their years keeping their spirits high throughout.

The wicket had grass on it when we played here two years ago, but it may help spinners early this time.

It is a different competition with different rules. Pakistan is a good one-day side especially at home. We have a young side who has done well recently. We are looking forward to it.

Our goal was to win the series 4-1. We were confident of chasing a target and we have been good at doing that in recent times.

We had great cricket in two last two series because of the quality of pitches. Unfortunately, the wickets in the first two Tests here have not lived up to the expectations of an India-Pakistan contest.

We had our backs to the wall for three days in the first test. They didn’t surprise us, we knew they’re a good team.

What he does when he gets fired at the top of the order is very destructive and that is something he had done successfully in the past.

From the position where I stood, it looked that it was not done deliberately. So we did not appeal.

The shot was on without the fine leg. He was unlucky that the ball rolled on to the stumps.

It was nice to be able to get away from our rooms and visit a place that has so much history attached to it. We have read about the Pass in our school days and...

We know we have to play well. We have to play one day of good cricket out of the remaining two to win the series. We are confident of doing it. We have shown in...

He has done two days of exercises and all the practice.

If we play good cricket, we should win,

The rule as it is now, gives a huge advantage to the captain inning the toss. So, I think, they (ICC) should continue with it and allow the team to pick their super sub after...

I wouldn’t lay out my cards on the table now, to be honest it looks a very good wicket that might do a little bit initially for the bowlers.

I am sure in future they will come up with a plan like the Ashes which ensures that there is not too much and not too little cricket played. I think you got to get...

We also see tomorrow’s game as an opportunity to give a chance to some of our batsmen and bowlers.

He is a great cricketer but more importantly, he is also a fine person.

The heat is not a problem but the humidity is.

I don’t think these things are related too much for international sportsmen. What happened last week should be forgotten.

The eleven picked will depend on how the wicket looks tomorrow morning.

The huge advantage India used to have playing at home probably does not exist anymore. Most teams plan their tours well these days.

We played him in the middle order against South Africa with some success. We have a lot of options, but we will see as the series progresses.

We are playing good cricket and have won 11 games when we have chased. We are confident of doing both. We have specific plans when we bat first or chase. I do not think we...

We clearly have to raise our fielding standards. It was disappointing. Our bowlers also have to learn to bowl under pressure. The mood is down in the camp now but every series is a new...

I don’t believe in statistics.

We know we have to play one good day to win the series and we have plans to meet the challenges of either chasing or setting the targets for the opposition.

We are not ruling out anyone for the World Cup.

We will be looking at what kind of combination we will go in with (in the first Test). But we have to keep working hard on all three aspects of our game,

I think he did a great job as a captain in his first series and he’s truly shown why is the greatest all-rounder in the world at the moment.

He is not an option. We have two specialist openers and I have also opened and done well.

I told him ‘Just keep enjoying yourself, mate. I’m having a great time watching you’.
