This is a classic ‘La Nina’ pattern, with snow accumulating in the Northern Colorado mountains during the midwinter months.
There are a lot of grasslands that are crisp. And the spring forecasts are leaning toward dry. Every week that passes without a major storm – the fire danger goes up.
That is really the big question. Some scientists say that we will get more extreme weather, while others say the situation will reverse itself. We don’t really know.
It can happen. But based on our current situation, local scale and large scale, probabilities of recovery are much lower this year.
