We had a couple of guys come up with … two-strike hits that were big for us. We talked about it early on: timely hitting is the key thing.

Chad’s breaking ball really got him out of some tough spots. He competed well.

He was ahead of hitters the whole game. He really spotted his fastball well and later got out of trouble with some big strikeouts with his breaking ball.

He worked ahead of hitters all day. He had good command of his change-up and breaking balls.

We’re doing a good job of taking advantage of mistakes. When the door opens, you have to jump on it and make the opportunity pay off.

That was one of our goals: to put ourselves to be there at the end. We have all our toughest battles ahead of us.

We’re getting real good pitching and we’re starting to be able to execute and scrap a few runs out. We’re finding ways to score runs, sometimes, when we really need them.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with their desire to learn. There’s a great desire to learn with this bunch. They’re hungry.

The kids have come out with a mature approach and bought into some of the new things we’re doing. When you work on something you haven’t done, you have to expect that it will work.

It’s more of a hope right now that things go well. I want to see them to expect to win every time they take the field and believe in each other.
