I definitely have to give her credit. She played solid. She came up with some really good shots at times. (But) it’s difficult. I didn’t give her a chance to play much, as well. If...

My life off the court has changed. I’m feeling good inside, so I guess it shows on the outside too.

I was really playing well, not making too many mistakes, … I was really pleased with my first set.

I think I was 6-2 down once and won, but never from 6-0.

She made me play bad, I guess you could say, because she is far quicker than all the other girls that I’ve played so far. She got another ball back every time.

I’m just happy to play anybody right now, … (Winning) would be just unbelievable. It would just be amazing. It would really be amazing.

You never know, this could be my last one, … Not because I want it to be, but who knows what can happen in life? So each time that I get farther and do better,...

weirdest situation that I’ve ever experienced in a Grand Slam.

Winning a Grand Slam changes everything. There is so much off-court stuff to deal with. And there are expectations of keeping it going that make it tough.

The third set was a battle. I kept fighting and hanging in there.

I’m really happy to be in the semifinals, … This is the best that I’ve done at the U.S. Open in my career, which I think is amazing. I’ll be giving everything that I have....

We’ll see what happens. I’ll just give it my best.

I just played unbelievably well at the beginning, even my shanks were going in,

I just started all over again all areas and just rebuilt myself and changed a lot,

I am just feeling so great. I am healthy and able to play out here in front of my fans. Everything that’s happened in my life – I’m just so grateful.

She started to play short and I received easy balls,

I didn’t try and hit her on purpose. Sometimes that happens in tennis, but it was not my goal.

She’s been number one in the world, now she has a Grand Slam title to her name. I’m happy for her.

I’m just feeling so great, … It’s pretty special, it’s pretty neat. I feel God has blessed me with this gift.

Nathalie played very well, especially her defensive game. Sometimes, her shots were just too good, so I just focused on being aggressive. I was happy that I was able to serve out the match.

When she came back to 30-all, I knew it was going to be tough. A very tough match,

I am very proud of myself for the year I have had, especially since Roland Garros, … There’s just one more match this year, and I’m going to give it everything that I have.

The last hurricane that happened down in the south, you know, there’s people struggling with their lives basically and lost a lot of things, … I’m very excited and happy to be in the semifinals....

[She said she didn’t know what that could be.] But I felt, ‘OK, I really believe that,’ ‘ … I thought, ‘Well, I’m just going to do everything I possibly can and be the best...

I thought it was going to be the ending point if I won it. I guess I’ll keep playing.

It’s pretty simple. Today after I lost the first set, I just kept thinking about a friend of mine back home, Pat, who is sick. She just gave me the power to play today.

Hopefully, I won’t be having nightmares.

Patty is a great player, she always puts up a great fight against me.

It’s tough, you know. Any loss is tough, especially in the finals, especially in a close match, especially when you feel like you had opportunities. What can I say? I did everything in my power...

I knew in the very first game it was going to be tough.

I really believed it. I felt it very strongly.

There is no pressure on me in this match, … And it can’t get too much worse than when I played her in Paris.

Kim, congratulations, … You were really too good today and you deserved to win.

It’s tough to finish like that.

Its super to play with Martina, and she has huge amounts of talent. We have a lot of fun.

Everybody gets injured, … There are time-outs for certain reasons. Some players go to the bathroom. Some change their clothes. Elena went and changed her clothes after I won the second set, so it’s part...

It’s difficult with the time difference and the change of surface but it’s the same for Elena.

When I lost the first set, I thought, ‘Okay I just need to get help,’

I felt confident in the second set when I went ahead. I thought I was going to win the second set, then felt pretty confident if I did that I would win the match in...

It’s tough, … Any loss is tough, especially in the finals, especially in a close match. Especially when you have opportunities.

I said, my last years will be my best.

It’s amazing, … I’m 30, 17th year on the tour, and there’s still firsts for me. That’s pretty exciting.

I give all the credit to Kim because today she was obviously the better player – that is why she won,

Since we won the semi-final I’ve been thinking about that final at Roland Garros,

Kim has been incredible on hard courts this year.

She played solid. She came up with some really good shots at times. It’s difficult. I didn’t give her a chance to play much, as well. If you make 41 unforced errors, it’s really tough...

I’m pleased with the week. It wasn’t such a bad effort in getting to the final and playing five matches in five days.

That was a first for me, … You couldn’t have asked for an easier shot to put away the match. What can you do? You just have to laugh.

We played good tennis during three hours and the crowd enjoyed it. It was tennis of a good level but not of the highest one,

The key the ball was hitting the ball hard and deep, staying aggressive and trying to come forward.
