China’s move showed serious disrespect for Taiwan. The two sides haven’t started negotiations on the panda offer but China, through propaganda manipulation, made it seem like Taiwan is sure to receive the gift.

It looks like they insisted on sending them to us, and we have no choice but to accept them. It shows severe disrespect to us.

In fact, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has continuously discussed the opening policy over the past two years and the government has also prepared completely for the opening.

The U.S. is not entirely satisfied. That means that we need to continue to consult with them.

China is the real troublemaker for sabotaging peace and stability in the region.

It’s time for us to open our testing and packaging technology to the mainland. There is a demand by the industry to make these investments.

If talks between the two sides can be completed within six months, charter flight services will be opened immediately.

The United States should listen to the voice of Taiwan’s people and treat democratic Taiwan fairly.

The U.S, has made freedom and democracy the central values of its diplomatic policy.

It will make people around the world doubt the consistency of U.S. policy if Bush makes remarks that are harmful to a democratic country or critical of a popularly elected leader.

If relations worsen, China should take the blame because they have ignored all our calls for improving ties.

We think it is now the time to [lift restrictions on] low-end semiconductor packaging and testing and small-sized LCD panel manufacturing. The council and the ministry do not have … a different pace or plan.
