When freshmen and their parents arrive in the Butler quad, they have an expectation that they’re going to live in a Collegiate Gothic dorm, so the fact that [Butler] isn’t gothic may be a problem...

The interiors will be sheet-rock with skin plaster walls, like normal buildings, just like Bloomberg.

They’ll be airy, with natural light, so that you could open the window if you wanted to.

I think that there’s been some acknowledgement that President Tilghman is hoping to make improvements in different parts of campus and we’re working hard to try to find out what they will be.

It has to both meet the functional requirements and be visually acceptable to the grounds building committee and board of trustees ? and come within budget.

We’re always planning things, but exactly what the administration and trustees will approve, one never knows. We have to get around to a point that they think is a good idea.

The usability of that lower level is a huge benefit of the new Butler.

Even the smaller bedrooms, which will be presumably for the freshmen and sophomore suites, will be large enough so that all the University-provided furniture will fit in them. The junior/senior bedrooms will be large enough...
