The more I study (Nixon) on tape, I think be can be become a dominant cornerback. He’s a guy that will come up and hit you.

There were some positives. No one got hurt.

All he did was shake my hand and say thank you. And off he went into the trailer to go watch film.

You’re allowed to have 85 on scholarship come August. It doesn’t matter how many you sign as long as you’re at 85 come preseason practice. Believe me, it’s been thought out. I did get a...

I’d much rather play our non-conference games first and then get into the conference. Every game is important, but I’m a guy that would much rather play the non-conference first.

Three of the four of them had their moments last year. Each of them brings different things to the table. … There’s nothing etched in granite. I want to see how they develop. We want...

If I didn’t feel like he could handle the situation then he wouldn’t be the guy that we would go with,

To me [Butler] has got a tremendous challenge. They all have a tremendous challenge, but to me they have to look at every game as a tremendous challenge – but they have to understand that...

Everybody has to take a bit more pride and effort that the No. 1 job of the offensive line and running backs is pass protection. You don’t want that quarterback to be touched. You have...

We’d like to get him up to about 250. He’s a guy that has the athleticism to play the run and play the pass equally well.

He’s the type of guy that’s going to do all the things that you want to do. He understands the scheme that we’re playing very well. He has experience at his position and he’s going...

I like everything about Dennis. I have the utmost confidence in him that he’ll go out and do a good job. He’s a student of the game. He’s a guy that’s very conscientious and wants...

Because of the number of people we lost – we had to spend time doing some different things in terms of developing leadership and getting guys to understand what it’s going to take to play...

I’m not going to make any statements on [the Richardson case] because that’s not something that I’m dealing with. That’s an administrative matter. It’s not really a football issue.

The biggest thing is we were able to attract more speed and more athleticism with this group. Not only in your normal skill positions or the power positions, but even with the linemen.

There?s a lot of work to do, no question, just like the other 116 Division I teams in the nation.

I don’t know how he’s going to play,

The guys respect him for that. He gets it done in the classroom. He gets it down on the football field.

I am extremely disappointed for our seniors that weren’t able to get this game and extend their season. Our kids competed hard and played hard, but playing hard doesn’t get you what you want. And...

It was one of those days. With the wind and things like that, the conditions weren’t very good. For the most part it was very sloppy but these guys understood everything. I thought the communication...

I think he’ll do fine. His confidence and poise will be fine. Those are things we as coaches have to help him with this week. I’m confident in his abilities. Our coaches are confident in...

I thought he did a good of hanging in there. We’ll grow from this. We have to understand just how good we’re going to have to be to compete with a top-20 team on the...

He’s demonstrated to me to have the best work ethic. He has the most passion of the next best tackle that I think we have on our team. He has the size, the strength and...

That’s news to me if Marvin’s the starter.

The schedule that I’ve already made for beginning in August, I know this: Regardless of wind, rain, snow, sleet, whatever it may be, I’m never going to have to worry about changing. We can set...

We’ll have a better idea of the time frame after (the doctor) goes in. It could be two weeks, it could be three weeks. I don’t know.

There are talented football players on this team. It’s just that nobody knows about them because they haven’t played,

We’ll see if some of these other guys can step up or see if we’re going to be inserting some of the freshmen. Right now I’d say we’ll be inserting some of the freshmen at...

That stuff never bothers me. We’re going to make our own evaluations.

We won’t have to worry about that this week.

He wants to be good and will do whatever it takes to be good. He wants to understand everything. He’s got a great work ethic and a great understanding of football. He understood football when...

When you play defense, it is about emotion. It is about enthusiasm. You want to see that and you want to have that. And we have a few guys that bring that to the table.

We knew about his athleticism when we recruited him. We wanted to utilize his speed and athleticism and his ability to get to the ball. He’s a tough kid, too.

There’s no doubt about it, we would have been inside. We’d like to be able to get things done. And plus we’d be further along. We’ll be further along next year because our guys will...

We’ve just got to move forward. I don’t remember being involved in anything like this.

I knew physically that he had the ability to do it. It was just a matter of him learning his assignments and the things that he had to do from a mental standpoint of playing...

We did a pretty good job. They thought they were going to put a big number on us. They were surprised. They thought they’d be able to wear us down. I was pleased with our...

There has to be a whole revamping of recruiting because of technology.

Lou made some really nice runs. Donald probably had his best day of the spring. Andre also had a good day. They all did some good things. They’re guys that proved they can help us....

But I know this: He’s going to be prepared and he’s going to give everything he’s got. I know all the guys on the team have a tremendous amount of respect for him.

a great addition and a great help to me personally and also the program and the kids. He’s done a great job of bringing our football alumni back into the fold.

They’re a much different team than we played a year ago – a much improved team. We know they’re going to be disciplined. They’re going to be well-coached. They’re going to play hard.

A lot of these kids get rated in their junior year. There’s a lot that happens between a kid’s junior year and their senior year in terms of maturity, development and understanding the game. …...

Danny made significant improvement from the time his second spring ended to the time we started in the fall. He made a complete jump. That’s what I’m hoping with D.J., that he’ll make that jump.

Rutgers is a team that has been playing with a lot of confidence. On film right now they are a 4-2 football team, just like we are.

The schedule gives us balance in terms of not being on the road more than one week at a time. I like that the Big East games are mostly together and later in the season...

Other than seeing the ball go down the field a little more, I don’t think there’s a whole lot of difference in what they’re doing, … The times Mike Teel has been in playing, he’s...

I never look at if a guy is a walk on or a scholarship player, to me it’s the best guy that gets the spot.

I think those could be season-ending injuries,

There is a tremendous challenge for this football team this week as we head down to Atlanta. We know that they are an outstanding football team. They are well coached. They have quite a bit...
