I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s match, … I need to play well. The (first) two years I played here, I didn’t do very well. I’m excited at the idea of playing a good tournament.

I’m really happy to be here. I’ve been out of the swing of things for a long time and I hope to get back into the rhythm with a few matches to regain my form.

I need to improve, I want to improve, and to be able to stay in London and play on grass before Wimbledon is a very good opportunity for me.

I’m ambidextrous when I eat. But playing tennis right-handed – I can’t do it. I’m clueless.

I am very lucky because when I come back home, I have a completely normal life. I can relax, playing golf, fishing – doing what I want. I know when I finish a tournament, I...

My confidence was low after I lost (to American James Blake) in New York. But it wasn’t very complicated today. I took my chances early and set the tone.

I also had my chances but Clement played the big points better than me. I have no excuses.

I think these are good changes. I have already played some doubles and will continue to do so in the future. More singles players will probably do like me and play more doubles under the...

I’m still happy with my season. I’ve won a lot of tournaments and that gives me confidence. I’m improving every year. It’s a normal evolution.

I started really well. He didn’t hurt me on my service and I never felt in trouble. There were always chances for me to break him and he was struggling to make the short balls.

It will be a special match.

The record of Borg and Vilas? I have thought about it.

We’ll try and be very aggressive, we’ll try and speed up and change gears, and we’ll see who’s going to win.

I have the same bedroom I’ve always had. It’s clean and tidy when I get home, and after two or three days it gets messy and my mother nags me.

My knee is hurting a bit,

I’m delighted. It’s incredible to be in another final and even more special to do it in Madrid.

I know that…as time goes on in the tournament, the matches will get more difficult and I could lose at any time,

He was playing with confidence, … He has a very good forehand. He’s serving well. He didn’t have a lot of mistakes. He beat me.

Is more for precaution. You don’t know tomorrow what’s happen, no? But now I am happy because I don’t feel too much pain. But I can finish the match, so that’s a good sign.

This is good for me, to be third in history on clay. One day I’m going to lose. I hope it’s not next week (in Barcelona).

You fight, you try your best, but if you lose, you don’t have to break five racquets and smash up the locker room. You can do those things, but when you’ve finished, nothing’s changed. You’ve...

I think I am a complete player. I can play well on all the surfaces. For me, the clay might be easiest, but I am not a specialist on clay.

That’s painful always to lose.

I don’t think I’ve ever fought my way back from two sets down to win a five setter and without doubt the crowd was the key,

I hope to play 50 percent better each day, … Clearly, winning the first match gives me a lot of confidence.

My knee feels fine, I’m just icing it for prevention,

I think today was my best match of the week for sure. I took the chances that I had and served very well when I needed to. Physically I feel stronger and stronger so I...

He’s in a good moment. When a player stays in a good moment with confidence, he’s always difficult. He’s playing good, for sure. He can stay in the top 10 because he’s playing very good.

I always wanted to be honest with myself and to those who have had faith in me.

I was passionate about soccer. I still am. Odd, though – playing soccer always made me much more anxious than playing tennis. On soccer days, I’d be out of bed by 6 in the morning,...

To be honest, I haven’t felt at my best since this tournament began. I didn’t feel good with the court or the balls. But those are excuses. You have to accept when you don’t play...

With my serve, I feel a little bit more comfortable on court, because when I serve, in every game, I have one point with the serve or one point on forehand, easy forehand, with the...

He is a very good player, … He has very good feel.

Waiting didn’t affect my performance at all,

I don’t think my age matters during competitions.

He was playing too well in the first set; very aggressive. I could do nothing.

It?s already a great feeling to be third on the list. To get past Borg, I will have to reach the final in Barcelona next week. It won?t be easy. I could lose any day....

However great your dedication, you never win anything on your own

Some people get very confused about my game. They think it’s better if the court is slow, because I have a good defence. But the faster it is, the better for me. My spin is...

I am decidedly unfriendly during a golf game, from the first hole to the last.

The incident was bad for me. I was 4-0, 0-30 when it happened and then I lost the game. I didn’t like it at all. It’s not good for the show on court.

Whatever happens tomorrow I’m happy to be in the final because I was playing terrible before China.

Winning this match does not mean that everything is done. I’m very happy with my game, but I’m very aware of the fact that I can lose any time.

I had to play 100% to win this match. I served well and I played well with my forehand.

For sure I didn’t play 100 percent. But he played very good, too.

This was the toughest match of my life, … I want to thank the fans, without whom I would have lost.

I always had the theory that the most important thing is be happy, enjoy what are you doing, and be fresh mentally.

I think when you compete every week, when you play under pressure daily, you find your rituals to be 100 percent focused on what you’re doing.

It’s more a tennis problem than a mental problem. The transition is difficult. It depends how much time you have. Playing on grass can sometimes be a bit of a lottery.

Well, it’s never nice to get stung by a bee of course, and it’s even more strange for it to happen indoors in February. But there are no excuses – he was the better player...
