At the end of a long year, we played two of the top teams pretty darn good.

They pitched good. They’re bullpen was outstanding. We battled and we hung in there — gave ourselves some chances. But they came through.

Beckett settled in, and can really overpower you when he throws strikes.

We don’t want to throw him out there just for the sake of throwing him out there.

They know we can score some runs so we’re not out of games. They’re confident that we have some offence. We’re solid top to bottom.

He’s good. He’s got a good arm, and he’s got that funky fastball.

The good pitchers were ahead of the hitters today.

He went out on a good note today. He has been looking for that 13th win, been stuck on 12. He’ll go home feeling good.

That first week of the season, without having an off-day, you never know how far the starters are going to go. So we may need that extra arm down there.

Games like this take their toll on the bullpen,

He’ll pitch Friday in New York. [A call-up] will pitch Thursday — whoever that might be.

It’s a big month for them.

Obviously, it’s a great thing to honor your country and to get that type of experience on such a big stage, but we’re a little bit selfish in wanting those guys back as soon as...

Look at the last two years. He had that collapsed lung twice, and then he broke his hand at the beginning of last year,

He looked really good the first inning, he was getting his breaking ball over. Then he kind of lost his feel for the strike zone.

We’ll take 3-3 right now having gone in against Boston. Now you can go home, but it doesn’t get any easier.

The kid was dynamite. That’s all you can say. Everything you heard about him he did tonight.

Just chalk it up to part of [maturation]. He’s going to have those [bad outings], … He’s ahead of schedule just by being here. We’re trying to balance it, too.

He picked up right where he left off last year.

Although they will be missed by zoo visitors and staff alike, their relocation is an important step in helping to protect the species for future generations.
